For Typhoon Victims

The Office of Presidential Assistance for Recovery and Resettlement (OPARR) Aklan Coordinator Clarence V. Guinto officiated the Ground Breaking Ceremony of the Altavas Resettlement Project at Brgy. Talon, Altavas, Aklan on March 17, 2015.

Guinto was accompanied by Wayne T. Malilay, Atty. Benny T. Salazar, and Ms. Melrose S. Lunn. Cong. Teodorico T. Haresco, Jr. and Gov. Joeven T. Miraflores gave their respective messages in support to the project. Altavas Mayor Denny D. Refol thanked the Aklan OPARR team, Governor Miraflores and Cong. Haresco. Also present were Brgy. Officials of Talon, DepEd Altavas, Engr. Romeo Aneciete, Engr. Cesar Estimoso, Mr. Emmanuel T. Tolentino, Kalahi CIDSS and DSWD representatives.

Altavas Resettlement Project costs Php 141 million for the construction of 393 housing units for typhoon Yolanda victims. It is located on a 3 hectare titled property at Brgy. Talon, three kilometers from the National highway and about 200 meters away from Talon Elementary School.

Altavas is the first to have started among the 11 coastal municipalities with this resettlement project. The 10 other municipalities are in the process of Documentation. Aklan is allotted Php 5.8 billion for the construction of 15,948 housing units.

It is projected that the Resettlement Summit in April 2015 for Aklan and Antique will speed up the documentation, processing and construction of the housing unitt. /MP
