NGCP Holds Forum For UST
Electrical Engineering Students
NGCP’s Deputy Assistant Chief Technical Officer for System Operations Mr. Santiago A. Dimaliwat IV was the guest of honor and speaker at a recent forumfor electrical engineering students of the University of Santo Tomas.
 In a move to reach out to a wider audience, power grid operator and transmission service provider NGCP recently extended its information dissemination campaign to graduating electrical engineering students of the University of Santo Tomas (UST).

The university’s Electrical Engineering Department organized the forum as part of the students’ course requirements, and invited NGCP to give a talk about basic power grid operations and NGCP’s role in the electric power industry.

A UST alumnus himself, Mr. Dimaliwat graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from UST. He moved on to obtain his Master of Science-Electrical Engineering, Major in Computer Engineering and Master in Industrial Engineering-Major in Operations Research, both from the University of the Philippines. He also served as college lecturer at the Ateneo de Manila University and engineering instructor at UST.

Approximately 80 electrical engineering students listened to the talk which was held at the Roque Ruano Building of UST in Sampaloc, Manila on 18 April 2015.

NGCP is a privately owned corporation in charge of operating, maintaining, and developing the country’s power grid. It transmits high-voltage electricity through “power superhighways” that include the interconnected system of transmission lines, towers, substations, and related assets. The consortium, which holds the 25-year concession contract to operate the country’s power transmission network, is comprised of Monte Oro Grid Resources Corp. led by Henry Sy, Jr., Calaca High Power Corporation led by Robert Coyiuto, Jr., and the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) as technical partner. /MP
