Boy Scouts Honor Volunteers, Officials


Hon. Carlito S. Marquez, Governor of Aklan led the honorees of the By Scouts of the Philippines (BSP), Aklan Council during the National Court of Honor held to recognize the valuable support and contributions given to the Boy Scouts movement in Aklan. The award ceremony was held in CAP Bldg., Archbishop Reyes Street, Kalibo, Aklan on December 15, 2006.
Some 322 awardees for the years 2005 and 2006 received their respective medal and certificate from the National Court of Honor composed of Mr. Ernesto F. Melgarejo – chairman and Hon. Nelly M. Briones, Engr. Victory M. Fernandez, Dr. Victorina S. Laroza, Vice Governor Ronquillo C. Tolentino and Dr. Ambrosio R. Villorente.
Of the 322 awardees, 206 are service medal awardees while 116 are medal of merit awardees. Governor Carlito S. Marquez was awarded the Silver Medal of merit with Atty. Ronquillo C. Tolentino who was awarded Gold Medal of Merit.
After the distribution of awards, Vice Governor Ronquillo
C. Tolentino, BSP chairman, Aklan Council gave his message. He stressed the importance of boy scouting and its contribution to the molding of youth’s character and citizenship and leadership development. He gave his heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all involved in the scout movement.
In the morning of December 15, a short program and "Pasaeamat Luncheon" were held in the BSP headquarters, Veterans Avenue, Kalibo. It was held in honor of the avid supporters of boy scouting and for the successful celebration of the Golden Anniversary of BSP, Aklan Council and the holding of the 23rd Jamborette in the Altavas National High School as host, Altavas, Aklan.
