Aklan with its famous Boracay Island resort is relegated to the fourth (4th) place as the top tourists destination in year 2007 with about 400,000 foreign and local tourists who visited, the Philippines Information Agency reported.
On the basis of the Department of Tourism report, Cebu Province and Misamis Occidental are now considered the top tourists destinations in the Philippines. Cebu province was visited by 748,006 foreign and local tourists during the year 2007. Misamis Occidental known for its waters and bountiful seafood received 526,367 visitors.
Oroquita City and Tangub City, both situated in Misamis Occidental are highly interesting places to visit. Layawan river in Oroquita City is a recipient of a national environmental award. Tangub City is a place of livelier atmosphere to stay during Christmas.
Baguio City which was visited by 441,863 tourists placed third in the ranking. /MP
