Hon. Teody Masangya, barangay chairman of Barangay Mataphao, New Washington, Aklan was elected President, Liga Ng Mga Barangays in Aklan last December 2007. Masangya replaced Hon. Ananias Solina of Linauan Norte, Kalibo as member ex-officio of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan.
The election of officers of the Liga nga mga Barangay Provincial Federation officers is in pursuant to the mandate provided in the Local Government Code of the Philippines. Like Hon. Solina, Hon. Masangya is expected to sit as chairman of the committee on Barangay affairs in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan.
Hon. Masangya was elected unopposed with Hon. Stephen Bolivar as vice president. Hon. Bolivar is a former SB member of Nabas and now barangay chairman of Buenavista, Nabas.
The other officials elected with Masangya and Bolivar are as follows: Secretary – Hon. Wendell Tayco of Brgy. Mobo, Kalibo; treasurer – Hon. Gregorio Imperial of Brgy. Rosario, Malinao; members, Board of Directors – Hon. Osias Prado of Carugdog, Lezo; Hon. Ezel Selorio of Talon, Altavas; Hon. Louie Almero of Julita, Libacao, Hon. Elmer Colangoy of Aquino, Ibajay; and Hon. Viterbo Prado of Buruanga.
The newly elected officials took their respective oath of office before Governor Carlito S. Marquez immediately after the election. /MP
