PSA Aklan Conducts Annual Poverty Indicator Survey
The Philippine
Statistics Authority (PSA) Aklan is conducting the 2014 Annual Poverty
Indicator Survey (APIS) this July 2014. Some 72 sample households in five (5) barangays
are covered
These barangays are
Brgy. Lapnag, Banga; Brgy. Pinatuad and Solido, Nabas; and Brgy. Albasan and
Badio, Numancia.
The APIS is a
nationwide survey designed to provide information on the different non-income
and income-based indicators related to poverty to monitor the poverty situation
in the country and for the formulation of policies and programs to improve the
living conditions of the population.
According to
Provincial Statistics Officer Blas M. Solidum, data to be gathered in this
survey include: household demographic characteristics, schooling status and
highest grade completed, economic characteristics, housing, water and
sanitation, social protection, sources of income and family expenditures from
January to June 2014.
He also said that
information on drug awareness and prevention will also be collected to
determine the family’s knowledge about drug problem in the community and the
various programs implemented in order to stop it.
The APIS will be
conducted as a rider to the 3rd Quarter Labor Force Survey (LFS).
Aside from the aforesaid barangays, LFS sample areas are as follows: Brgy.
Poblacion, Altavas; Brgy. Morales, Balete; Brgy. Bay-ang, Magpag-ong,
Mambuquiao and Mandong, Batan; Brgy. Tigayon, Kalibo; Brgy. Paningayan,
Madalag; Brgy. Nagustan, Nabas; Brgy. Fatima, New Washington; and Brgy. Afga,
Tangalan.
PSO Solidum requests all respondents to cooperate in
this survey by providing correct information to data collectors with the
assurance that all information given will be held strictly confidential. /MP
