Air Asia Is Low Cost Carrier
Air Asia claims to be the leading and largest low-cost carrier in Asia. It services the most extensive network with 88 destinations in the Philippines and abroad. In its 12 years operations, Air Asia carried over 250 million guests and grown it from just two to 160 aircrafts.
Air Asia is proud to be a truly ASEAN airline with established operations based in the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and India. It is servicing a network stretching across all ASEAN countries as well as China, India, and Australia.
Air Asia was named the “World’s Best Low Cost Airlines” in the annual World Airline survey by Skytrax for six consecutive years in 2009 to 2014.

Today, Air Asia Zest and Air Asia Philippines operate a combined fleet of 14 aircrafts servicing domestic destinations with international destinations in Asia, China, and Korea from NAIA, Mactan International Airport, and Kalibo International Airport.
To travel via Air Asia is to be smart, to beat the queue. It provides self check in to passengers either by Mobile Check-in, Web Check-in or Kiosh Check-in.
Mobile Check-in can be done from mobile phone from 14 days up to one hour before the scheduled departure time. Web Check-in can be done at home or office from 14 days up to one hour before the scheduled departure time. Access to a printer is needed to print one’s travel itinerary and boarding pass, while Kiosk Chek-in can be done in the Airport with the use of airport self check-in kiosks, available from 24 hours up to one hour before a scheduled departure time.
Fly Thru?
Fly Thru refers to the process of conveniently transferring from one flight to another without the hassle. Available to Fly Thru guests are one-time-booking; no transit visa required; Thru check-in; baggage check thru and guaranteed connection. Fly Thru is only available in Air Asia like across Asia and Australia from Manila to Adelaide to Sydney, to Melbourne.
Construction Delay
As of February 28, 2015, the completion of the construction of Bulwang bridge and Marianos bridge all in Numancia, Aklan are lamentably delayed and indefinite. It is “Minor Asenso”. Both bridges construction which started on June 23, 2014 is 100 calendar days to complete.
On February 28, 2015, some 150 days have elapsed but the completion of the two bridges construction is yet out of site. I’m optimistic that if the DPWH will put its hearts, mind and muscle on it, construction will surely be completed.
However, if the practice will continue, bridges will stay uncompleted and hazard to the people.
I’m dismayed every time I pass by the construction sites with workers idling and looking with the passersby.
Are they properly supervised? Paid enough? Have materials and tools to work with? These are some of the reasons why the Philippines’ remains stagnant.
DA Provides Seedlings To Barotac Viejo
In support to the national greening program and to intensify production of fruit trees for additional income in the countryside, the Department of Agriculture Research Outreach Stations provided the municipality of Barotac Viejo, Iloilo 11,950 assorted fruit trees seedlings.
Regional Executive Director Larry P. Nacionales said those seedlings consisting of 4,200 jackfruits, 3,200 grafted mangoes, 1,500 duhat, 1,000 guayabano, 1,000 marang, 800 pomelo, 200 kamonsil, and 50 rambutan given to 60 households of indigenous people (Atis) at Sitio Kabarankalan, Barangay Sto. Tomas. These will be planted on their agricultural techno-demo farms.
The seedlings are produced from the ROS Sta. Barbara, Iloilo; ROS Sigma, Capiz, and ROS Dumarao, Capiz.
These ROS also propagated indigenous fruit trees like astuwete, batwan, cacao, galangan, siniguelas, iba and bignay in support to the growing demands in the export market.
Moreover, Jesus Balila, Municipal Agricultural Officer encourages all households to plant fruit trees in their backyards to produce not only for their own consumption but also for additional income.
Balila said the demand for jackfruit, guayabano and mango in the local market is increasing. In five to ten years’ time Barotac Viejo will be one of the major suppliers of these fruits to Iloilo City and Boracay, Balila projects.
“Trusting these seedlings to the groups of indigenous people in the upland areas of Barotac Viejo will boost their morale as contributors to local economic growth. They are glad that government interventions reached their areas,” he added.
“Mr. Norberto Gonzales, Jr. an Ati tribe and one of the magsasakang siyentista at the same time project in-charge for the techno-demo farm is tasked to monitor and see to it that seedlings are taken cared of by the beneficiaries” Balila explained. /MP
