DOH Grants DRSTMH P50 Million
For Hospital Facilities And Equipment

The Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan presided by Vice Governor Gabrielle V. Calizo-Quimpo has authorized Aklan Governor Florencio T. Miraflores to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Health which will govern the disposition of the P50 million grant intended for facilities and equipment in the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital in Kalibo, Aklan.
The provincial legislative body granted the authority during its 3rd Special session on December 27, 2014 held at the SP Session Hall, Provincial Capitol, Kalibo, Aklan through Resolution No. 284, series of 2014.
The P50 million grant under the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) of the Department of Health shall be used for the construction, expansion, repair/renovation of facilities and purchase of equipment by hospitals operated by the local government units.
The provincial government of Aklan operates the DRSTMH, a tertiary hospital, one district hospital each in Altavas and Ibajay, and one municipal hospital each in Madalag, Libacao, Buruanga, Boracay and Malay.
Under the HFEP, the district and municipal hospitals operated by the provincial government of Aklan was the recipients of funds worth several millions of pesos from the DOH for their respective facilities and equipment.
During the deliberation of Miraflores’ request for authority, it was learned from Vice Governor Quimpo that the Governor intends to use the amount to add another floor to the new existing three-storey hospital building constructed nine years ago with a funding from the LogoFind of the Department of Finance.
Very recently, the Ciriaco Tirol Hospital in Boracay has also availed several millions of pesos from the DOH’s HFEP for its expansion and upgrading. /MP
