DA Allocates P181M For
FMR Project Under PRDP
Capiz Provincial Governor Victor Tanco thanked the Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Proceso J. Alcala for the P181, 059, 000.00 farm-to-market road (FMR) project approved under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) during the media interaction held just recently.
“The project will ease the transportation from Lemery, Iloilo to Maayon, Capiz,” said Gov. Tanco.
The concreting of Hipona-Canapian-Quinabonglan FMR is expected to be completed before the term of President Aquino ends.
This FMR is five (5) meters wide, 1.5 meters both sides, 6 inches thick, and 18.117 kilometers long.
According to Gov. Tanco, this FMR project is one of the first approved under the PRDP, a World Bank-assisted DA program that seeks to improve the farming sector through the development of agricultural infrastructures and enterprises.
“This road will cut the travel time from the fifth district of Iloilo to Capiz. This will also pave way for development and security as agricultural products can be easily transported compared to the present situation that the area is quite critical and has no access to market,” said Gov. Tanco.
According to Sec. Alcala, the provincial government of Capiz has shelled out P18 million for the project. The DA has provided 10 percent, the provincial government- 10 percent and the 80 percent of the total project cost is funded by the World Bank through a loan agreement.
Gov. Tanco told the media that the provincial government has P100 million budget for PRDP counterparting. /MP
