BES STUDES SHINE IN REGIONAL
LITERARY FEST
Some 43 students, eight of whom
came from the Balete Elementary School (BES), 23 elementary and high school
students from Star Glow Center for Academic and Arts, 10 high school students
from the Aklan Catholic College and two from the Aklan National High School for
Arts and Trades were standouts in the recently concluded Regional Literary
Writeshop and Contests held at the Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center,
Iloilo City on August 21-22, 2015.
Sponsored by the Philippine
Information Agency, the literary writefest is composed of several categories.
These are short story writing in English and Filipino. Poem writing in English
and Filipino, Essay writing in English and Filipino, Anecdote writing, English
poetry with rhythm rhyme and free verse and other literary forms.
The competition was participated
in by pupils and students delegations from Guimaras, Aklan and Capiz.
The winners from Balete
Elementary School are: Ayatullah Shaharani S. Quivez, 2nd place in Essay
Writing English with Ms. Ramela J. Peralta as coach; Jann Alexandra J. Peralta,
3rd place, Short Story Writing –Filipino with Mr. Gilbert Dy as coach; Stephen
Anthony L. Loredo, both runner up in short story writing and poem writing in
English, coached respectively by Engr. Fredeciel O. Beltran and Ms. Meriam F.
Lapador; Jericho Andrew N. Paunilio, runner up in short story writing in
Filipino with Ms. Annaliza I. Villaruel as coach ; Ryle G. Panganonong,
runner-up in Essay Writing in Filipino with Jo-Ann B. Barrios as coach; Selwyn
John Roberto, runner-up in poem writing in English with Nyl L. Gallardez as
coach; and Lynn D. Morales, runner-up in poem writing in Filipino with Ms.
Raquiliza A. Dominguez as coach. Althea Marie C. Mado and Mark Anthony C. Rey,
both of Aklan Catholic College bagged first places in Poem Writing Filipino and
Anecdote Writing Filipino, respectively.
Noticing the achievements of the
Aklanon children, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan is set to commend the
young achievers, their mentors, and schools through a resolution./MP
