DTI SME Roving Academy
Conducts Trainings in Aklan

The Department of Trade and Industry in Aklan is
currently implementing its Small Medium Enterprise Roving Academy (SMERA)
Trainings in Aklan. The project aims to promote entrepreneurship among
Aklanons, and to sustain the competitiveness of existing Micro, Small and
Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
The SMERA is one of the flagship programs of DTI,
conceptualized to be a continuous learning program to enhance the various
competencies and potentials of unemployed women, local youth and existing MSMEs
through the promotion of business information, management and skills training.
Seven (7) seminars were conducted for the past months
this year which were held in Kalibo, Malay and Batan. Around 120 potential
entrepreneurs and 60 existing MSMEs participated. They were able to obtain new
tips and techniques helpful for their business ventures.
The topics presented and
discussed in the training activities include, Establishing Markets, Enterprise
Development, How to Avail a Loan, Visual Merchandising, Entrepreneurship, and
Product Consultation and Development.
Resource person/s from the office
of the DTI Aklan and other national government agencies who are mostly members
of the Small, Medium Enterprise Development (SMED) Council in Aklan (i.e DOLE,
DILG, DOST) private firms and business associations were invited to discuss
matters relevant and helpful to MSMEs conduct of business operations.
DTI Aklan aims to conduct more
SMERA activities for potential and existing MSMEs in the coming months of 2015.
DTI enjoins potential and
existing entrepreneurs to participate in this kind of opportunity to learn new
ideas and strategies that will be useful in setting up and improving business
