P25,000 Christmas Bonus
For Employees
Municipal employees of Banga are quite lucky. Mayor Antonio T. Maming just paid them their P25,000 christmas bonus each, he confided to this writer. This amount is 150 percent higher than the P10,000 Performance Bonus of the national government personnel.
Moreover, Mayor Maming also distributed one bag of groceries each to ALL households of the municipality of Banga notwithstanding their economic status. How generous Mayor Maming is! Thank you Mayor Maming and the taxpayers of Banga, said the recipients.
Banga Bandstand
Mayor Antonio T. Maming has vehemently denied the “Demolish Bandstand at Banga Town Plaza” which appeared in this column on December 1, 2007 issue. He explained that his town plaza development plan will beautify more the town plaza and will not destroy it. Mayor Maming furnished this writer a machine copy of the perspective of the Banga Town Plaza Beautification Plan. It is published on page 6 of this issue. It is difficult to really understand the plan as it is not in detail.
According to him, what will be changed is the roofing to stop the leaks. Mayor Maming also said that a canteen will be an added feature of the bandstand. How it is to be constructed is a matter of actually laying it out in a detailed plan. For those who are interested in that town plaza beautification plan, it is advisable to see and talk with Mayor Maming on the matter. He is open to hear you.
Flowers To Mayors
One project Mayor Tony Maming disclosed to EF is the renaming of streets in Poblacion, Banga. According to him, there are exactly twelve streets now existing in Poblacion, Banga named after the popular Philippines flowers such as Margarita Street, Rosal Street and Orchids Avenue among others. These streets will be renamed the names of former Banga mayors like Mayor Jose Urquiola, Mayor Teodosio and Mayor Macahilig, Atty. Sergio R. Rigodon, Atty. Jeremy N. Fuentes, Dr. Stevens N. Fuentes and other former mayors who are still living will not be entitled for a street to be named after them. Only those former Mayors who already passed away will be entitled for a street to be named after them. This naming of streets and public structures must follow a certain process.
Farm Chemicals and Fertilizers
Cong. Joeben T. Miraflores has called up EF last week regarding the alleged “ghost deliveries of farm chemicals and fertilizers” valued P10 million as published in Lapsus Calami of Panay News on its November 22, 2007 issue. EF has written him a letter with the request to comment on the matter. He categorically denied that the allegation is false. “No ghost delivery of farm chemicals and fertilizers took place in my district,” the congressman stressed. “Where does Lapsus Calami of Panay News get its false imputation?” asked Congressman Miraflores.
