The National Statistics Office (NSO) honored the three (3) business firms in Aklan and 16 others from other provinces of Western Visayas. These firms are Aklan Baptist Hospital, Inc., Brgy. Caticlan, Malay; Willy’s Beach Club & Hotel, Boracay, Malay; and Panay Telephone Corporation, Poblacion, Kalibo.
The awards were given during the Regional Data Dissemination Seminar held last December 2012 at Grand Tower Hotel, Iloilo City.
The above named business firms were awarded Plaque of Recognition for their prompt completion and submission of survey questionnaire as respondents in the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippines Business and Industry and the 2010 Survey of Information and Communication Technology.
NSO Deputy Administrator Paula Monina F. Collado and Regional Director Norman R. Julag-ay handed the awards.
The three establishments are among the 19 awardees from various provinces of Western Visayas.
According to Blas Solidum, Aklan provincial statistics officer, the recognition is done to show the NSO’s acknowledgement of the cooperation of business establishments to provide quality data in the generation of statistics as inputs to economic development plans and programs of the Philippines.
“Admittedly, collecting data from different business firms is quite difficult as most of the owners are reluctant in providing information about their business operations. It is hoped that this recognition will inspire and motivate probable respondents in research to cooperate fully to NSO in its future studies”. Solidum said. /MP
