The Ati-atihan town of Kalibo is 441 years old. It celebrated its Foundation Day last Saturday, November 3, 2012.
It started with the Thanksgiving Mass at St. John The Baptist Cathedral Kalibo after which, Commemorative Program at Kalibo Pastrana Park followed. The rest of the day was spend for blood letting activity, Larolympics and Beauty Care and Wellness Spree.
Blood Letting was held in the second floor of the Kalibo Municipal building; Larolympics at Kalibo Pastrana Park, and Beauty Care and Wellness Spree was done for free at the Kalibo Pastrana Park.
During the commemorative program, Mayor William S. Lachica welcomed the guests and visitors. Kalibo municipal anthem was also launched by Mayor Lachica, vice mayor Madeline A. Regalado with Governor Carlito S. Marquez and members of the Sangguniang Bayan of Kalibo. The guest speaker, Aklan Governor Carlito S. Marquez was introduced by Hon. Soviet R. A. Dela Cruz.
Marquez in his commemorative speech congratulated the people of Kalibo on their municipal Foundation Day. He cited the progress made for the last few years and the present program, projects for the development of Kalibo.
A student of New Buswang Elementary School, Mary Krisdel R. Panadero entertained the audience with a Visayan Folk Song popularized by the late Jovita Fuentes in a vocal solo that brought down the audience.
Teachers’ choir, DepEd sang the Philippine National Anthem and Aklan Hymn. /MP
