Run To Save Lives


“I choose to Run To Save Lives”. This is the tagline of the nationwide “Million Volunteer Run (MVR) year 2 the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) will hold on Feb. 10, 2013.

The first MVR the PRC held was on Dec. 4, 2011. It was a big success. Some 450,000 runners participated held simultaneously nationwide.

The PRC is intensifying its program for youth and adult volunteers in its different humanitarian endeavors to make them useful and responsible citizens of the Philippines.

The MVR aims to serve as a driving force to advance the spirit of volunteerism to address today’s humanitarian challenges. It strives to empower the nation against the dangers of disasters by developing our youth and volunteers as humanitarian soldiers. It hopes to raise funds for PRC youth volunteers trainings on disaster management and equipping every community with life-saving skills.

There will be two starting points in Kalibo, Aklan. One at Kalibo Airport Entrance, Pook and another at Brgy. Tigayon in front of Suburbia Hotel. The assembly time is at 5:30 in the morning and will simultaneously start at 6:00 a.m.

The runners are requested to wear red T-shirt during the run. Adult runners are strongly urged to pay P100 each while the students will pay P20 each. /MP
