Some 3000 Bakhawan propagules were planted by the Aklan police personnel this Friday morning, April 27 at Bakhawan Eco-Tourism Park, Brgy New Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan, PO2 Nida Lachica Gregas reported.
Each PNP personnel is required to plant six (6) trees per month as mandated by the CPNP through its project, “10 Milyong Puno, Pamana sa Kinabukasan”. However, only about 30 trees were planted today by individual PNP personnel from Aklan PPO headquarters headed by Provincial Director PSSUPT Cornelio T Defensor. Troops from Aklan Public Safety Company and 17 police stations in the province of Aklan also participated in tree planting.
APPO director senior superintendent Cornelio T Defensor said, “the activity is part of the continuous advocacy of the PNP to preserve and protect the environment which is clearly stated on the PNP’s organizational core values as “Makakalikasan”. The tree planting is also in support to the CPNP project to complete the target of 10 million trees to be planted until 2013.
To support the hunger mitigation program of the government and the preservation of our eco-system and to keep up with the disaster reduction program, the PNP, DENR and other agencies involved are keeping in touch to sustain the activity, Defensor pointed out.
Aklan PPO will have another tree planting activity in Kalibo, Aklan in May 2012. /MP
