VP Binay: Beef Up Intel To Prevent Bombings

Vice President Jejomar C. Binay last week stressed the need to beef up the intelligence network of law enforcement agencies as a deterrent to bombings, citing recent explosions in Cagayan de Oro City and Midsayap, North Cotabato.

Binay said that the Philippines will have to intensify its intelligence “to preempt these unfortunate incidents.”
According to the Vice President, a vast and effective intelligence network employing the latest technology will go a long way in tracking suspects and preventing the occurrence of crimes.

“By investing in the latest technology and making sure that our criminal databases are updated, we minimize the risk of these incidents.”

“Our law enforcers also need to be more vigilant in securing the safety of our citizens,” Binay declared.

He added that law enforcers should also focus on immediately apprehending those responsible for the bombings.

“We should see to it that those behind these bombings are arrested and charged in court,” Binay said.

The Vice President had earlier condemned the incidents and called on the police in the bombed areas to investigate the matter thoroughly.

“The victims and their families deserve swift justice,” he said. /MP
