BSP Aklan Council Plans Golden Anniversary Day

Vice Governor Ronquillo C. Tolentino, chairman of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Aklan Council announced the preparation for the celebration of the 50th year of boy scouting in the province of Aklan. Actually, scouting in Aklan started simultaneously with other provinces and cities in the Philippines but it was done with the BSP Capiz Council.
When R.A. 1414 was approved into law, Aklan was declared a separate province on April 25, 1956. BSP Aklan Council organization in Aklan also followed after the Aklan separation from Capiz.
The BSP Aklan Council golden anniversary celebration will be held next year. According to Ms. Leila P. Leonida Pamatian, a “Year Book” in Aklan Scouting will be published. This will portray the important highlights in Aklan for the last 50 years like scouting leaders, former boy scouts members who excelled in their respective chosen fields as influenced by scouting principles and virtues learned.
Altavas National High School, Altavas, Aklan will host the Aklan Council Jamborette sometime in November 2006. Other highlights of the forthcoming anniversary celebration will be known as soon as they are ready. The center of the Golden Anniversary Celebration is in Altavas. Engr. Victor Fernandez chairs the venue preparation and development. He and his committee are now busy in the site preparation. In another scouting development, chairman Tolentino of the BSP Aklan Council announced the holding of the 46th Annual National Scout Executives Conference. This will be held on November 22-25 at Sampaguita Gardens, New Washington, Aklan with the theme: “Scouting: A Program of Today’s Youth for A Better Tomorrow”.
Some 150 participants will attend this conference from all provinces and cities of the Philippines representing the top officials of their respective BSP Councils. Governor Carlito S. Marquez of Aklan will welcome them with a dinner party in Kalibo.
The conference aims to assess the overall performance in scouting operations; discuss strategies and plans towards 2007; provide tools that would upgrade work capabilities of scouts executives; and maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of professional service in the management of scouting. /MP mailto:madyaas_pen@yahoo.com
