Madalag Celebrates 59th Foundation Anniversary Inaugurates New Police Station


The town of Madalag, headed by Mayor Rex Gubatina celebrated its 59th Foundation Day on July 30. Madalag was founded in July 1948 by virtue of a law signed by President Elpidio Quirino. Madlag was curved out of several barrios from Libacao.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the blessing and inauguration of the newly constructed Madalag Police Station. No less than PCSupt. Wilfredo D. Dulay, Sr., Regional Director of Police Regional Office No. 6 graced the Madalag Foundation Day and the police station inauguration. Dulay was also the guest of honor and speaker. Rev. Fr. Eldrin Gecoli, parish priest of Balete, Aklan blessed the new Madalag Police Station.
Aklan Gov. Carlito S. Marquez, Libacao Mayor Charito Navarosa, Mali-nao Mayor Dominador Ilio, Jr. and Banga Mayor Antonio T. Maming also graced the occasion.
According to PSSupt. Benigno B. Durana, Jr., Madalag Police Station will be one of the Model Police Stations which is headed by Police Inspector Avelda D. Rabino. She is the only lady police chief among the 17 towns of Aklan.
In his speech, PCSupt. Dulay announced, Ma-dalag Police Station will have six (6) additional PNP personnel to compose the 20 warm bodies who will lead in the provision of basic police services to the Madalagnons. Gov. Marquez congratulated the PNP for the proactive measure which helps the community to have a friendly police station to go with. /MP
