by TERENCE T. TORIANO
"This is the first time that I officiated in the largest number of couples in one single civil wedding ceremony," said Kalibo Mayor Raymar Rebaldo in an interview with Ka-Tribu Radyo Reporter, Doniel Aguirre.

Rebaldo is referring to the "Kasalan ng Bayan" or Mass Civil Wedding held at Magsaysay Park on June 26, 2009, 9:00 AM participated by 98 couples from the 16 Barangays of Kalibo.

Most of the couples have been living together without the bliss of marriage, some already have several children.

"Marriage is important as it will give the children of couples the legal rights that illegitimate children do not have and it will put stability and harmony on their family and security for both couples," Rebaldo pointed out.

Pastor Teofilo Zonio of Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ, Pastor Rowena Andrade of New Assemblies of God and Pastor Raffy Sualog of the 7th Day Adventist offered their prayers for the couples while SB members Mark Quimpo, Greg Malapad, Ronce Reyes and Ka-Tribu Radyo Executive Director, Randy Rebaldo served as sponsors. LGU-Kalibo’s Human Resource Management Officer V Eleanor Isada and Municipal Social Welfare Officer Lolly Espino helped facilitate the ceremony.
