Interactors from Madyaas Institute, Regional Science High School – Region VI and Aklan National High School for Arts and Trades joined hands in making Mabilo Shoreline clean and beautiful. They went home with brooms, dustpans and waste baskets for their school as their prizes for the most collected garbage during the day.
Community Project - as one of the thrusts of Rotary International, District 3850, members of the Rotary Club of Kalibo held a successful Coastal Clean-Up Drive at Mabilo Shoreline last January 29, 2006.
On January 29, 2006, led by its President, Mr. Epifanio R. Rebuelta, the Rotary Club of Kalibo officers and members and their spouses went to the coastline of Mabilo, Kalibo. They went there to gather garbage from the coastline. They were accompanied by some 20 members of the Interact Clubs from Madyaas Institute, Numancia, Aklan, Regional Science High School and Aklan National High School for Arts and Trades, Kalibo.
After about one and one half hours gathering of garbage, about one metric ton were collected. Rtn. Bert Buyoc and PAG Botoy Villorente brought home the garbage for composting and fertilizer.
The activity did not only made the shoreline of about 400 meters long clean and beautiful, but the Rotarians, their spouses and the teenager Interactors were able to relax and enjoy.
