Peralta To Restore Free Water Flow

Mayor Edgar R. Peralta of new Washington has vowed to dredge Tambak creek in Tambak, New Washington, Aklan so that water may freely pass thru it again. Mayor Peralta revealed this to Dr. Ambrosio R. Villorente, chair of the Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Council of Aklan during their brief conversation just this week.
For the last eight to 10 years, sea water could not pass freely through the said creek during high tide and it can not also drain water during low tide. As a result, it has been causing fish kills in some fish farms located in Barangays Mabilo, Tambak and other barangays nearby. It has been impeding polluted waters to drain as well as the fresh sea water to get in.
The clogs in Tambak creek has been causing difficulties for fishfarm operators as water management became difficult. Moreover, during rainy season, the area easily becomes flooded and water overflows on the Tambak portion of the Kalibo – New Washington road.
Mayor Peralta promised to request the Sangguniang Bayan of New Washington to approve a resolution requesting Aklan Governor Carlito S. Marquez to make available the necessary engineering equipment to dredge Tambak creek to effect a free flow of water. Peralta also promised to demolish those shanties that block waterways on that said creek. “And these will be done immediately or as soon as possible,” he stressed. /MP
