Igoy Is New PCL Aklan President


Atty. Wilbert Ariel Igoy was elected president of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Aklan chapter on Friday, August 17.
Igoy, a Malinao town Sangguniang Bayan (SB) member, had assumed the ex-officio role in the Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) since July 11, 2007 after PCL national president and now Mandaue City councilor Carlo Pontico-Fortuna confirmed his appointment as interim PCL Aklan president.
In an election held at the Gov. Corazon Legaspi Tourism and Training Center, Brgy. New Buswang, Kalibo, the 136-strong PCL from Aklan’s 17 municipalities elected Igoy unopposed.
Kalibo councilor Gregorio Malapad, Jr is elected as executive vice president. Other officers are SB members Jairus Salazar of Batan (vice president-east), Plaridel Solidum of Ibajay (vice president-west), Basilides Tabernilla of Makato (secretary general), Aizel Villorente of Libacao (deputy secretary general), Lilian Tirol of Kalibo (treasurer), Jay Tejada of Tangalan (press relations officer), Jesus Quimpo of New Washington (auditor) and Josel Rata of Banga (business manager).
Igoy, chairs the Aklan SP Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability. The elected PCL president is supported by local party coalition Tibyog Akean headed by Aklan Gov. Carlito Marquez and Aklan Rep. Florencio Miraflores. /MP
