Talaoc Is Diocese of Kalibo Bishop

After three years of waiting and with God’s grace and blessing, the office of the Diocesan Administrator, headed by Rev. Fr. Ulysses Dalida is happy to inform that His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI has designated the Most Rev. Jose Corazon Tumbagahan Talaoc, D.D as the 4th bishop of the Diocese of Kalibo.

The appointment was announced officially on Wednesday noon, May 25, 2011 in the Vatican and exactly six o’clock in the evening, Manila time. Bishop Talaoc is the bishop of the Diocese of Romblon at the date of his designation. He last visited Kalibo during the Regional Youth Day celebration last April 2011. He is an Aklanon from the parish of St. John Nepomusen, Tangalan, Aklan.

The Diocese of Kalibo took three years to have the next leader of the Diocese after the Most Rev. Jose Romeo O. Lazo, D.D was transferred to the Diocese of San Jose, Antique. According to Rev. Fr. Ulysses Dalida, this is the longest time that the office of the bishop was vacated in the history of the Diocese of Kalibo. (by Mark Anthony D. Leyson) /MP
