ASU Holds University Extension Program In–House Review

Lead by its University President, Dr. Benny A. Palma, ASU held its 2008 University Extension Program In–House Review. It was held at ASU Conference Hall, Banga on September 3–5, 2008.
The In–House Review aimed to review and determine the effectiveness of the extension programs and projects in line with ASU’s research development and extension thrusts on quality education, sustainable agriculture, enterprise development, health and social welfare. To come up with innovative extension strategies and policies to maximize the expertise of the faculty and financial resources for global competitiveness of the extension services of ASU. It was held with the theme, "Excellence in technology dissemination and utilization for sustainable countryside development."
Some 25 completed, on-going and proposed extension projects were presented after the opening program. ASU president, Dr. Benny A. Palma delivered his inspirational message. Dr. Helmar E. Aguilar, past president and president emeritus of ASU did not make it to the in–house review. His keynote speech, however, was read by Dir. Edilberto Solidum, director of Students Affairs and Alumni.
The presentation of papers was followed by clarificatory questions and suggestions from the panel composed of five (5) members who are Dr. Rose T. Mueda and Dr. Lulu L. Loyola of UP Visayas; Engr. Roger M. Esto, chief provincial development planning officer; Aklan, Dr. Alan Alimodian – Training Supt. II, Agricultural Training Institute; and Dr. Ambrosio R. Villorente – farmer.
The presentation over, integration of Extension and Community Service Programs and projects were made through a workshop. The workshop output was presented. The best paper and best presentor were recognized and awarded in a simple closing program. /MP
