A ranking leader of New People’s Army (NPA) fell into the hands of military authorities in Negros Occidental recently.
By virtue of the warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, the joint forces of the police and military arrested Diro Pancho Sanchez alias Ka Ariel inside a public market in Escalante City, Negros Occidental.
Ka Ariel was tagged as intelligence officer of "Komiteng Rehiyonal-Negros" of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) as well as the finance and logistic officer of rebels’ Northern Negros Front.
Based on the military records, Sanchez was included in the order of battle of key NPA
cadres in Negros island.
Sanchez is presently facing a criminal case of arson filed against him before the sala of the RTC in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental. He is also facing a criminal case in Negros Oriental.
Recovered from his possession and control at the time of his arrest were cellphones, six SIM cards, a motorcycle and personal belongings. (PNA) /MP
