The Commission on Information and Communication Technology (CITC) held its 2006 eQuality Summit on April 27 – 29, 2006 at Sampaguita Gardens, New Washington, Aklan. Several topics were discussed anchored on the theme: Empowering State Universities and Colleges Thru ICT.
The summit was attended and participated by some 250 delegates from State Universities and Colleges (SUC) led by their respective SUC’s presidents from all over the Philippines.
Aklan Governor Carlito S. Marquez welcomed the delegates to Aklan and emphasized the importance of ICT in local governance and development. (See full text of speech on page 2).
Several topics were presented and discussed leading to the empowerment of SUC’s thru ICT. Dr. Maria Beebe discussed ”Connecting Schools and Communities” while Dr. James Beebe discussed “Leadership and Technology”. Other topics discussed were “Enterprise Architecture” by Prof. Derek Keats; “Mobility Solutions and Wimax” – by Carlo Subido. “Data Encryption Technologies” by Richmond Sy, “IntelliSite Corporation” by Bernardo Mitra and “UNV’s Spirit of Volunteerism” by Sandra Romero Ruiz.
