Joint Barangay Infiltration: A Blood Letting Activity

The Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Aklan Chapter, the 31st Aklan 3CMOU, CMOG, PA and Sabino Junkshop jointly conducted a blood letting activity held at Barangay Guinbaliwan, New Washington, Aklan on May 5, 2008.
This is the first ever project of this kind in the history of Barangay Guinbaliwan had conducted. This blood letting activity was in consonance with the directive from the Department of Health (DOH). It was made through the efforts of barangay officials headed by Brgy. Captain Vicente Quimpo, Hon. Elisa Sabino Rodriguez and barangay health workers led by Mrs. Carmelita Y. Quimpo.
In an interview conducted by Sgt. Glenn I. Zolina (Inf) PA with Dr. Elepoldo P. Magpusao-PNRC, Physician In-charge, he stressed that one of the objectives of this activity is to collect blood ranging from 5,000 units per year. So far, “we have only 1,400 units collected which is not enough to support the required blood unit needed in the province of Aklan. With this activity, the PNRC-Aklan together with DOH personnel and staff wish to convey their thanks to the blood donors of Brgy. Guin-baliwan and for their time and efforts to help solve blood scarcity problem in the province of Aklan”. Magpusao also encouraged other municipalities and Barangays in Aklan to do the same activity.
The breakdown of blood donors are: Type A-5, Type B-3, Type O-7 and Type AB-5 for a total of 10,000 ml blood collected.
Likewise, a film showing entitled “Welga”, “Huwad Na Pangarap”, and Katleen Santos Story @ Kat-Kat-a former LFS member killed by NPA” were played by the personnel from 3CMOU, CMOG, PA headed by Sgt. Rizalino N. Rodriguez, 31st Aklan POT, NCOIC. The film showing enabled the people to understand the strategy CPP/NPA/NDF to manipulate the mind set of their target individuals.
