Kalibo International Airport Welcomes Probing Taiwanese Flight

One of the fastest growing urbanized town in Region 6 with a reputation as one of the busiest airports in Panay, Kalibo International Airport is expecting to receive a probing and inaugural flight from Taipei, Taiwan on May 31, 2008 at around 6:00 to 7:00 in the Morning.
According to Airport Manager, Engr. Percy Malonesio, the 168-seater Boeing 737 Series 800 aircraft of Mandarin Airlines envisions two flights a week with a Kalibo-Taipei and vice versa route that will ferry Taiwanese tourists in and out of Aklan.
"This new flight is a welcome addition to the regular Asian Spirit flights from Incheon, South Korea. It will open more avenues of economic opportunities in tourism not only for the island of Boracay but also for Kalibo through the promotion of the Mother of Philippine Festivals, the Kalibo Sto. Niño Ati-Atihan, and the Green Pearl of the Orient, the Bakhawan Eco-Park," said Kalibo Mayor Raymar A. Rebaldo.
Just this week, the construction of the Terminal Building of the Kalibo International Airport started barely two months after its reclassification as one of the ten international airports in the Philippines. (by Terence Toriano) /MP
