KPES Kicks Off Brigada Eskwela 2009

by Dennis E. Bantogon
The Department of Education (DepEd) sets the institutionalization of the "Brigada Eskwela" Program or the National Schools Maintenance Week (NSMW) and make it mandatory in all public schools. In support thereof, the Kalibo Pilot Elementary School (KPES) teaching staff headed by the School Principal II, Ms. Nenita R. Bicera, started its preparatory activities and linkages with the parents, pupils, alumni, local businesses, local school board, LGUs, NGOs, socio-economic groups, the community, and interested private individuals/parties.

The Brigada Eskwela is a school maintenance program that engages all education stakeholders in the preparation for the coming School Year 2009–2010. It is a week-long event on May 18–22, 2009 or two weeks before the opening of classes on June 1, 2009. A collective undertaking which invigorates our own ingenuity and spirit of volunteerism by contributing resources (donations in kind), time, skills, and efforts to do minor to medium repairs and maintenance work in the school.

Cognizant with its implementation, the KPES is calling SOS (Serve Our School). The school is sincerely inviting local community (parents and pupils), government officials (provincial and local), alumni, GOs/NGOs, socio-eco-nomic groups, local businesses, and interested private individuals/parties to support this noble endeavor. Please get in touch with/contact the Office of the Principal @ 268-4775. Please help and achieve a beautiful treasure–for the development and better-ment of education./MP
