The floats of the Local Governments of Kalibo and Nabas tied at 3rd place during the Aklan Day Celebration this April 25, 2009.
The floats displayed the One-Town, One-Product (OTOP) of the towns it represented where the 1st place is taken by LGU-Numancia featuring their Vermicasting OTOP and the 2nd place by LGU-Lezo with their Pottery OTOP.
The judging was held after a Civic Military Parade around Kalibo participated by local governments, national agencies and the civil society for the 53rd Aklan Day Celebration.
Kalibo Mayor Raymar Rebaldo led the public officials and employees of the Municipality of Kalibo during the Civic Military Parade where its float featured the queen of Philippine fiber, the piña fiber.
LGU-Nabas’ featured their native sleeping mat or "Banig" OTOP.
PAPI–PIA Aklan Is First Ka-Tribu Radyo/Tambuli Team Bounces into 2nd Place
The combined Bowling Team of LGU-Kalibo’s own Community Broadcast Information System (CBIS) DYYM 98.5 Hot FM Ka-Tribu Radyo and the Aklan State University’s DYMT Radio Tambuli in Banga bagged the 2nd place in the recently concluded 2nd Vice Governor Gabrielle Calizo Aklan Media Bowling Cup this April 25, 2009 at the Q-Zone Bowling Center.
Ka-Tribu/Tambuli Team pitted and lost against the defending champion from PAPI and PIA Aklan and retained their title.
Despite the defeat in the championship game, Ka-Tribu/Tambuli Team placed itself 2nd place in this year being the third placer in the 1st Vice Governor Gabrielle Calizo Aklan Media Bowling Cup last year.
Kalibo Mayor Raymar Rebaldo, Chairman of the Board of Director of Ka-Tribu Radyo and Team Captain, admitted that Team PAPI/PIA are a class of their own when it comes to bowling with personalities known to have frequented and distinguished themselves in the sport. He is glad however, that the Ka-Tribu/Tambuli Team can hold their own and was able to grab the 2nd place.
"Wait for the upcoming Basketball," teased Ronnel Irodestan, one of the consistent pin fall scorers of Ka-Tribu/Tambuli Team, since there are talks that the 2nd United Media Basketball Cup may be launched this year with Ka-Tribu Radyo holding the Championship title in 2007. /MP
