Amador Raz Is Guilty of Homicide

Mr. Amador Raz of Badio, Numancia, Aklan, is found guilty of the crime of homicide in connection with the death of Roland Ureta on January 3, 2001. 

According to the decision of RTC Branch 16, Cebu City Judge Sylvia Aguirre – Paderanga, Raz is meted 8-14 years in jail, to pay P50,000 for civil indemnity, P50,000 actual cost and P11.8 moral damages. 

Roland Ureta was the program host of “Agong Nightwatch”, a radio program in RMN-DYKR, Kalibo, Aklan. After he finished his broadcast at 9:00 o’clock in the evening on January 3, Ureta went to Lezo to visit his parents. However, before reaching his parents house, he was shot and killed on his way at Brgy. Bagto, Lezo.

After hearing the decision, Raz wept profusely. He said, “I could not do the crime. I will appeal the decision”. He will be transferred to Muntinglupa very soon. His stay in jail while the case was under litigation will be credited to him. /MP
