The Kalibo Sto. Niño Ati-Atihan Festival 2009 officially started with Combo ni Papa and Barajada held in Magsaysay Park on January 10.
There will be 29 Ati-Atihan tribes which will participate in Kalibo Sto. Niño Ati-Atihan Festival 2009. This year’s festival is the 797th celebration, Kalibo Mayor Raymar A. Rebaldo announced during a press conference held in the Kalibo Municipal Hall on Monday morning, January 12. This participating tribes are of 4 categories.
They are: The Balik Ati of 6 tribes namely: 1. Lilo-anong Ati ag Datu Sa Balangay; 2. Maninikop; 3. Tribu Ilayanhon; 4. Puro Ati; 5. Tribu Isalacan; and 6. Kinantu-ing.
The Tribal Category (small group) are of 7 tribes which are: 1. Lezo Tribe; 2. Tribu it Panay; 3. Morongga Tribe; 4. Tribu Bukid Tigayon; 5. Niñolitos; 6. D’Kamang-gahan Tribe; and 7. Tribu Tipon-Tipon.
The Tribal Category (big group) are of 8 tribes which are: 1. Lord Eagle; 2. Brgy. Tribe; 3. Manhanip Tribe; 4. Pangawasan Tribe; 5. Kabog; 6. Maharlika Tribe; 7. Tiis-tiis; and 8. Black Beauty Boys.
The Modern Category is composed of 6 groups which are 1. Sakanebu; 2. Samurai Blue Japan; 3. B-Crusis; 4. Aeang-aeang; 5. D’Emagine;and 6. Adlaw-Gabii.
There are 2 entries for Individual Category which are: 1. Balahibong Manok; and Indigenous Ati.
