Mabilonhons comme-morated the heroism of Gen. Francisco Del Castillo on Monday afternoon, March 23. It was held in the Gen. Francisco Del Castillo Elementary School named in his own with a simple program and cultural presentation.
Kalibo Mayor Raymar Rebaldo was the Guest Speaker. He narrated the life and death of the very first Katipuneros outside Luzon, Gen. Francisco Del Castillo and the XIX Martyrs of Aklan, to his audience who are young children of barangay Mabilo.
Local historians cited the present location of the elementary school in Brgy. Mabilo, Kalibo as the rally point of the Katipuneros before their march toward the Spanish Garrison at the Martelino St. corner Arch. Reyes Street at the Pastrana Park.
Although Gen. Francisco Del Castillo is from Bohol, he was proclaimed hero due to his selfless acts as leader and as the organizer of the Katipunan in Aklan along with his good friend, Candido Iban. /MP
