The 32 Best Aklanon Poets


Mr. Melchor F. Cichon of UP Visayas, Editor of the 32 Best Aklanon Poets.

In commemoration of the 32nd Anniversary of the Archbishop Gabriel M. Reyes Memorial Foundation, Inc., (AGMRMFI), a book "The 32 Best Aklanon Poets" was launched on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 10. It was held in Museo It Akean, Poblacion, Kalibo.
Mr. Melchor F. Cichon, a famous Aklan poet was the guest of honor. Cichon is a native of Lezo, Aklan. He is holding a very responsible position at UP Visayas Cichon. He edited the book to be launched.

The AGMRMFI character started with a Holy Mass in the Kalibo Cathedral to comme-morate the 57th Death Anniversary of the late Bishop Reyes.

During the launching program, Ms. Marcela R. Tinagan welcomed the visitors and guests. Ms. Corazon G. Beluso, Aklan DepEd Social Studies Supervisor in her message underscored the importance of poetry.

Intermission numbers consisted of poetry reading STI Theater group, a dance and "Binatbatan", a folk dance performed by NVC Grade V students.
Nynn Arwena G. Tamayo introduced the poet-editor, Mr. Melchor F. Cichon. He spoke about the importance of poetry writing and reading. He urged Aklanon writers to write Aklanon poetry.

The program ended with the words of thanks by Ms. Waye Marie Dela Rosa IbaƱez.

The 32 Bests Aklanon Poets strongly express their dreams and aspirations; their vicissitudes and ambition in their poetry. The book portrays the strength and weaknesses of the authors. On the whole, it is a recommended reading for lonely men and women for them to regain deep motivation for life. /MP
