Capiz Info Group Supports Climate Change Campaign In a recent meeting of members of the Capiz Association of Govern-ment Public Information Officers, Inc. (CAGPIO) in Roxas City, they expressed awareness of the Greenhouse Effect and Global Warming causing climate change we are experiencing today. They believed the recent floods that devastated and wrought havoc to northern and southern Luzon provinces including Metro Manila cities caused by typhoons Ondoy and Peping are causes and effects of climate change.

Considering the magnitude and enormous effects of global warming and climate change in our planet Earth’s atmosphere, it is imperative for us to help mitigate this phenomenon. In view with this, the CAGPIO has declared its genuine support in the campaign to help mitigate the effects of global warming and climate change, as follows:

"We the Public Information Officers of the different national govern-ment agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations and local government units in Capiz do hereby declare and pledge:

That we acknowledge climate change is the biggest and most threatening environmental issue that adversely affects mankind globally; That immediate solutions to mitigate the catastrophic effects of climate change must be done now; That we are fully aware of our role and responsibilities as channels of information to help the public in making proper decisions;
That we have the ability and capacity to help mobilize the public especially on issues that would affect their lives and their children’s future; That as information officers, we must conduct advocacy campaign for the people to understand the threats and risks the country and the people face from climate change.

They further pledged to work for common measures to protect the environment and ensure the safety and well-being of all Capiznons and the people of the world.

As our commitment, we hereby seal our hands today at Roxas City. /MP
