Young Akeanon Swimmers Shine In Arizona, USA


Two young Akeanon swimmers from Kalibo, Aklan are members of the famous Aklan Aquablades. They are recognized in Arizona, USA for representing the Philippines in the recently held Lost Dutchman Swimming Invitational Tourney.

Aquablades members Ada Ortega and Chiny Respecio also represented the Philippine Aquatic Sports Association (PASA) in the tournament held on February 19 to 21 in Chandler, Arizona.

Other PASA members and Aquablades team failed to attend the tournament due to visa problems. Reports reaching Kalibo, Aklan said, both Ortega and Respicio are officially named Arizona, USA State Qualifier Swimming Athletes.

Another recognition was also given them for having originated from the farthest place to the tournament venue who competed in the invitational tournament.

The said tournament was in behalf of the Ro Sallado Swimming Club. The invitations were sent to the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association by Sandy Volmer, member of the Services Division of the American swimming team.

Aquablades coach is Thomas Dais, one of the respected swimming coaches in the US. After the successful tournament, the Aquablades will be returning to the Philippines to continue joining national swimming competitions in the country. (PNA) /MP
