DepEd Pilots Aklan, Iloilo, Capiz In Computer Learning

Selected schools from Aklan, Capiz and Iloilo have been identified as sites for the Pilot Computerization Learning Program in Panay of the Department of Education (DepEd).

The DedEd turned over recently the program package to Makato Integrated School and the Kalibo Elementary School (KES), the pilot sites in Aklan.

Emzter Jalbuena, manager of the FC Computer Center, Kalibo, Aklan, said that the program includes an inter-active (touch screen) white board, a host PC; desktop virtualization kit; access terminal; LCD monitors; projector; and UPS.

The FC Computer Center in Aklan is contracted to supervise the computerization program.

KES principal Evelyn Aranas said the school is chosen for the pilot program because all its 40 teachers are computer literate. At least thousands students will be benefited by the program.

"We are inviting all teachers in primary and secondary levels to visit our school for them to be oriented in the DepEd computerization program. Soon, they will have the same technology," said Aranas, adding that the computerization program will enhance educational achievements of elementary students.

Five model sites and one in Roxas City, Capiz were also identified by the DepEd for the program. (PNA) /MP
