Aklan Press Club, Inc. held their induction program on Saturday evening, July 29 at Hernanis Mix ‘n Match, Kalibo, Aklan, led by its president, Ms. Melrose S. Lunn (5th from left front). They are shown above with Aklan Gov. Carlito S. Marquez who administered their Oath of Office to Conrado Indelible-Exec. Vice President, Ernesto T. Solidum - VP Print, Roben P. Laserna-VP Radio, Arnel I. Relampago - VP TV, Richie D. Oloroso-Secretary, William R. Arguelles-Treasurer, and Recto I. Vidal Asst. Sec. Treasurer.
The Board of Directors is chaired by Odon S. Bandiola with the following members: Isidro A. Rasgo, Jr., Chita Dela Cruz-Heap, Rolly O. Herrera, Sumra Dela Cruz-Rojo, Ronel A. Irrodestan, Jethro L. Laserna, Sherry Anne T. Reunir, Delano T. Tefora, Gary F. Vargas, and Emeterio Prado, Jr.
The advisers are Atty Allen S. Quimpo, Atty. Ronquillo C. Tolentino, and Dr. Ambrosio R. Villorente. In his speech, Gov. Marquez stressed the importance of media in governance. According to him, media, members are the true partners in governance.
Atty. Eric Henry Joseph Mallonga of Bantay Bata 163/MTRCB spoke on the importance of giving tender loving care to the minors.
Mallonga discussed the provisions of Republic Act 9344 or the Minors In Conflict With The Law. He appealed to government leaders to religiously implement the provisions of Republic Act 9344 especially in Financing.
Mallonga related the story of Carlos Bolusan whose story has inspired him so much.
On Saturday morning, APCI members attended a seminar and press conference about RA 9344 (Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006) and a workshop on Behavior Change Communication Plan.
One important highlights of the induction program was the conferment of "Media Lifetime Achievement Awards" to Mr. Ebenezer G. Torre, Sr. and Mr. Augusto C. Tolentino both KBP Aklan chairmen, Mr. Emeterio Prado, Sr., and Engr. Roger M. Esto. /MP
