People’s Republic of China Officials Visit DAR-Aklan ARC


Some 14 high level officials from the People’s Republic of China (PRC) visited the Ibajay Lowland Agrarian Reform Community (ARC) in Mabusao, Ibajay, Aklan on July 29, 2011. They saw the completed projects under the Asian Development Bank funded Agrarian Reform Communities Project I (ARCP1).


After a briefing at Caticlan, Malay, the group proceeded to Ibajay. They paid a courtesy call to Hon. Maria Lourdes Miraflores, Municipal Mayor. The activity was part of the capability seminar of the PRC officials to gain better appreciation of issues affecting project implementation, stakeholder participation, and development impact of ADB operations in the country.


Ms. Rita Festin, the Senior External Relations officer of the ADB in its Philippines Country Office joined the PRC officials. They were oriented on the projects by Engr. Ernesto Anino, CARPO – BDCD of DAR Aklan.


The DAR-ADB-ARCP has implemented 165 projects in the six agrarian reform com-munities in Aklan. A sum of P137,288,095 was invested for infrastructure and agricultural enterprise development in the ARCs. /MP
