Aklan PNP Arrests Robbery Suspects In Kalibo


Two suspected thieves from Ozamis City, Misamis Occidental involved in the robbery incidents in Kalibo, Aklan were nabbed in Banga. The arrest was done at a checkpoint on Wednesday, Sept. 28 by joint elements of Kalibo and Banga PNP.


Police identified one as Ric Castillo y Colo, 34 years old, married and a resident of Brgy Triumfo, Ozamis City, Misamis Occidental. Judito Gurundio y Romero is 28 years old, married and a resident of Brgy Gango, Ozamis City, Misamis Occidental.


Aklan PPO director police senior superin-tendent Cornelio T Defensor reported, prior to their arrests, suspects victimized a rented apartment in N. Roldan St. Kalibo, Aklan on Tuesday, September 27 and carted away valuable items with estimated value of Php 117,800.00.


Through constant follow-up investigation, intensified intelligence monitoring, and hot pursuit operation initiated by Kalibo Police station, said suspects riding in tandem on a Honda XRM 125 black motorcycle were arrested after an immediate establishment of check-point by Banga police at Poblacion, Banga, Aklan, Defensor reported.


Seized from the suspects were Php1,941.75 cash in different denominations; two (2) pieces one us dollar bills; two (2) pieces sunglasses; two (2) pieces screw drivers (stanley); two (2) units cellphone Nokia and Samsung; two (2) pieces swill knife ;one (1) silver lady ring; three (3) pieces earrings without pair; one (1) gold bracelet; one (1) gold necklace; one (1) unit Honda XRM 125 color black motorcycle, chassis no. XRM15129041, Engine No. XRM5E129043, registered in the name of Judito Gerundio, with Certificate of Registration No. 10181352-6 issued on April 29, 2011.


The suspects were positively identified by witnesses in the series of robbery incidents in the town of Kalibo, Aklan. They are presently detained for custodial investigation. The items recovered are presently in the custody of Kalibo Police Station for exhibits and for filing of appropriate charges.
