PRC Aklan Chapter Million Volunteers Run


Some 200 Red Cross volunteers participated in the "Million Volunteers Run" held on Sunday morning, Dec. 4, 2011. These volunteers belong to the Barangay Disaster Action Team, Community Health Volunteers and 143 volunteers.


The run started at 6:00 o’clock in the morning in Tambak, New Washington, Aklan and ended at the finish line in Pastrana Park, Kalibo, Aklan.


After all the participants reached the finish line, a short program was held in the stage of Pastrana Park, Poblacion, Kalibo.


A physical fitness activity was also held that lasted for 30 minutes.


In his message, Atty. Ronquillo C. Tolentino, chairman, Philippine Red Cross, Aklan chapter discussed the objectives and advantages of the million volunteers run which is in celebration of the International Volunteers Day and to prepare the people mitigate the damage any disaster might cause in the future.


All the participants to the Run was awarded Certificate of Participation and the first three fastest runners were awarded plaques. /MP
