Boracay Hosts Top Nestea Beach Volley Teams

The famous Boracay summer tourist resort plays host to the 11th edition of the Nestea national beach volleyball tournament on April 21 to 22. The event features beach volley action, fashion show, parties, and a concert where the country’s finest beach volley athletes and some of the most beautiful faces and bodies in the country will display both their strength, skills, grace and beauty .
Sherwin Meneses and Mike Alinsunurin of Adamson University and Faith Ann de Guzman and Janilyn Sarabia of the College of St. Benilde topped the Nestea championship last year.
Top teams from Luzon led by defending champion Adamson University, St. Benilde, De La Salle-Dasma, Far Eastern U, Letran, Lyceum, Philippine Christian U, St. Francis of Assissi, San Sebastian, University of Baguio, University of the Cordilleras, University of Luzon, University of the Philippines and University of Santo Tomas will play to qualify during the elimination rounds on March 21-22.The elimination round for Visayas competing schools - Foundation U, Iloilo Doctors College, Southwestern U, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, St. La Salle-Bacolod U, University of San Agustin, San Carlos U, University of San Jose-Recoletos, University of Southern Philippines Foundation and University of Visayas is set on March 27-28 to earn tickets to the semifinals and championship.
On March 29-30, Mindanao teams composed of Capitol University, Holy Cross of Davao, Mahardika Institute of Technology, Mindanao State U, Mindanao State U-Marawi, Tawi-Tawi Regional Agricultural College, University of Mindanao-Davao, University of Mindanao-Tagum and Western Mindanao State U compete for slots to advance into Boracay stage.
The top two teams in both divisions from each leg will earn tickets to the semifinal rounds and championship in Boracay Island.
The Boracay champion teams from both men and women divisions will receive P150,000 each, second and third placers will take home P75,000 and P40,000 including sports equipments respectively.The annual tourney is sponsored by Boracay Gold Crowne Club, Speedo, Crystal Sand, La Salle Greenhills, Villa de Oro Boracay Beach Resort Hotel, Hey! Jude @ D’Mall, Microtel Inns and Suites Boracay, Boracay Mandarin Island Hotel, D’Mall D’ Boracay, Schering Plough Coppertone and Mikasa. /MP
