In a mach election, the top officials of the Publishers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PAPI) gave it a 6 –5–1 to the Senatorial candidates for the May 14, 2007 election. Some 15 officers, members of the board of directors and regional representatives from Mindanao, Visayas, and Luzon voted six (6) for Genuine Opposition (GO), five (5) for Team Unity and one (1) Independent candidate, Francisco Pangilinan.
Angara and Recto were in the first and second while Kiram is in the third spot. Roco, Villar, Legarda, Pangilinan, Singson and Arroyo are in the 4th to 9th places with identical six votes each. Escudero is 10th while Coseteng, Pimentel and Defensor with 4 votes each are competing for the 11th and 12th slots.
