Bacan NHS Holds Mural Painting Workshop


Some 51 students of Bacan National High School (BNHS) attended the Workshop on Mural Painting for Potential Young Artists in Bacan just recently.
The 10 days seminar was a series of lectures, discussions, skills demonstrations and submissions of outputs. Those were realized through the National Commission on Culture and Arts (NCCA), Intramuros, Manila, which aimed to enhance student’s artistic and creative skills. Being the first public secondary school recipient in Aklan of the NCCA sponsored mural painting project, the NCCA granted P60,000.00 to fund the workshop kits, training materials, preparations and other related expenses.
The participants painted their outputs on the school fence, which illustrated spirituality, environmental awareness, cultural consciousness, social relatedness and self-discovery.
Mr. Antonio dela Cruz Tejado of La Consolacion College, Bacolod City, an award winner in artworks for national, regional, and local competitions was the resource person/trainer sent by NCCA. Others were Mario A. Perucho together with Ms. Gladys L. Rampola and Mr. Tee Jay Dadivas, as assistant trainers who are members of BUGNA Arts, Banga Chapter.

Mameng, Banga Municipal Mayor; Norlito V. Isagan, Project Director and Bacan National High School Secondary School principal; Rex B. Manares, Division School Arts Coordinator; Doven L. Rampola, Project Coordinator; Merilos I. Tolentino, Project Facilitator; Jupiter C. Rario, Supply Officer; Catherine Y. Santillan, Data Encoder; Leoncito P. Indelible, PTCA President; Evelyn A. Zarita, Volunteer Staff; together with the Supreme Student Government; Barangay Bacan Officials; Crislyn R. Rampola and Rowena R. Guarino, and all Arts teachers.
The Closing Program was held on October 15, 2007 where the painters received a special award. Categorized as Surrealist: Anthony Bedia, first honors; Richelle Soldevilla, second honors; and Jacob Co, third honors. Impressionist Artists: Erick John Armenio, first honors; Cleary Ann Ingalla, second honors; and Bryan Campos, third honors. Expressionist Artists: Greg Zomil, first honors; Lilet Zonio, second honors; and Quennie Bautista, third honors. Realistic Artists: Tyrone Sta. Maria, first honors; Vitaliano Nabor, second honors; and Alvin Isubol, third honors. Social Realistic Artists: Benjie Relojo, first honors; Jovelyn Reteo, second honors; and Jay Roewen Teodosio, third honors.
Banga Mayor Mameng inducted the first term set of the Potential Aklanon Young Artists Guild (PAYAG) Officers who are: Greg Zomil, president; Neil Fernandez, vice president; Jovelyn Reteo, secretary; Richelle Soldevilla, treasurer; Lilet A. Zonio, assistant secretary treasurer; Jayson Rebustes, P.I.O.; Mary Hancel A.
