The Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO), in cooperation with the Amigo Badminton Center held the 1st Aklan Badminton Team Tournament 2008 on April 5, 2008 at the Amigo Badminton Center, Andagao, Kalibo, Aklan.
That was a benefit project to support the continuing wellness program of police officers as well as to promote a healthy lifestyle among the families and the youth in Aklan.
Teams composed of badminton enthusiasts from all over Panay and a team from Metro Manila competed in each of the nine categories which were exhilarating and exciting to hundreds of spectators, badminton sports fans, and players.
After that tournament, Aklan PPO will have the 2nd Aklan PPO Summer Olympics this coming May 2008 over the weekend. Senior Supt Benigno B Durana, Jr, Aklan Provincial Director, said the tournament aims to strengthen the camaraderie and unity of the policemen of Aklan. “The competition will again surely add more pomp and color to their summer,” he added.
Events lined-up are basketball, Volleyball and Fun Run to be participated in by Five (5) Teams of which, 2 teams from the Eastern side, 2 teams from the Western side composed of clustered 18 police stations of Aklan including Boracay Special Tourist Police Office (BSTPO) and one (1) team from PHQ, 601st PMG and the Regional Mobile Group.
