RC Kalibo Hauls 14 Awards

The Rotary Club of Kalibo captured some 14 awards during the District Convention (DisCon) of Rotary International (RI) District 3850. Of the 14 awards, nine (9) are club awards and five (5) are individual awards.
RI District 3850 is composed of 52 Rotary Clubs from Panay, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Misamis Occidental, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
The nine club awards are: 1. Most Outstanding Community Service; 2. Best Vocational Service; 3. Best Rotary Community Corps; 4. Best Community Project (Feeding program), 5. Best Public Image/PR (Tri-Media), 6. Outstanding Rotary Community Corps; Outstanding Rotary Club; 8. Outstanding Club Service; and 9. Second highest contribution to Rotary Foundation.
The individual awards went to: 1. PP Vic Santamaria – Outstanding Club Secretary; 2. Pres. More Morier – Outstanding Club President; 3. IP Megs S. Lunn – Distinguished Service as Fellowship Program chair; 4. AG Nolli Sodusta – 4th runner up in Golf Tournament; and 5. PP Raphy Tayco, Jr. – Distinguished Service as Rotary Community Corps chair.
The Discon was held at Planta Hotel, Bacolod City on April 3 – 5, 2008. It was graced by RI President representative Jackson Shieh and his lady Juliet. Other RI dignitaries also attended the Discon.
Discon is the most important affair of the Rotarians in the district. It is the culmination of activities during the Rotary Year which highlights the best accomplishments of Rotary clubs and its members. It renews old acquaintances, exchange notes and enjoy fellowship.
