Kapehan Sa Aklan Celebrates 1st Anniversary


Aklan Tri-Media celebrated the 1st anniversary of the Kapehan Sa Aklan in a simple ceremony held on Monday morning, March 23. It was one of the highlights of the 112th anniversary of the Martyrdom of the 19 Martyrs of Aklan.

Atty. Allen S. Quimpo, president of Northwestern Visayan Colleges, former Congressman and Mayor of Kalibo spoke eloquently of the Kapehan performance for the past year. Dr. Benny Palma, president of Aklan State University discussed the role of the Kapehan in the conduct of research, information technology dissemination, populari-zation, and utilization of the product of research specially in agriculture.

Atty. Ronquillo C. Tolentino, historian, former Vice Governor of Aklan, and practicing lawyer extended his sincere congratulation to the Aklan tri-media members and their respective media outfits for their active participation and coope-ration to the Saturday Kapehan Sa Aklan.

Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan Hon. Selwyn Ibarreta, Hon. Plaridel M. Morania, and Hon. Rodson Mayor and Kalibo SB member Lilia Quimpo Tirol were unanimous in their short remarks of the great influence of the Kapehan in their functions as local legislators.

Dr. Ambrosio R. Villorente, president of Aklan Press Club. Inc. in behalf of Mr. Juan P. Dayang, president of Publishers Association of the Philippines gave the welcome remarks.

These representatives of the tri-media outfits committed, in their respective remarks, to continue supporting sincerely the Kapehan Sa Aklan.

Kaibahang Conrad Indelible spoke for RGMA–DYRU Super Radyo; Sumra Dela Cruz – Rojo for Aklan Reporter; Hon. Jerome Vega for RMN-DYKR; Erel Ibardolaza for DYIN–Bombo Radyo; Roben Laserna for CBIS Hot FM, George Cawaling for i–Travel Magazine; Boy Ryan B. Zabal of Panay News; Arnel Arieta of Boracay Radyo; and Jun Ariolo Aguirre of Hala Birada among others.

Kapehan Sa Aklan was launched one year ago on March 23, 2008 with Mr. Roy Mabasa–president, National Press Club, and Candaba, Pampanga Mayor Jerry Pelayo as guests of honor.

On its second year Aklan Media Forum, PAPI and Aklan Press Club, Inc.
had committed themselves to continue the works started. It has vowed to perform its role as a real fourth estate. /MP
