Residents of the Province of Antique will soon have an alternate route once the P776.889 million road project under the Rural Road Network Development Project III of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is completed.
A monitoring report by the Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) in Iloilo City showed the project funded by the Japan Bank of International Cooperation (JBIC) is already 57.09 percent completed and is due to be finished in July 2011.
"It has long been proposed but it was only realized last year," Erlinda Chiu of the project monitoring and evaluation division of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) said.
The project covers the boundary of Iloilo-Anini-y to V.Jimenez road in Antique.
Chiu added that aside from the road network the package also includes five bridges and another nine bridges funded under the DPWH Urgent Bridge Project.
The road network has also an existing 15 bridges thus, the entire project once completed will have 29 bridges all in all, added Chiu. (PNA) /MP
