Former Governor Posts Bail For Graft Charges

SAN JOSE, Antique (PNA) — Former Antique Governor Sally Perez gave herself up peacefully to police authorities in the town of Hamtic Tuesday, June 21 in anticipation of the arrest warrant from the Sandiganbayan. She posted P60,000 bail for the two counts of anti-graft charges filed by Antique provincial Board Member Tobias Javier.

The charges alleged that the erstwhile Antique governor had received funds which formed part of the controversial fertilizer fund scam from then Department of Agriculture (DA) Undersecretary Jocelyn ‘Joc Joc’ Bolante through the Antique Development Foundation where Perez was honorary chairman.

In the criminal complaint, Javier cited Perez’s indiscretion when she herself received the funds through the foundation instead of conveying the amount straight to the Antique Provincial Agriculture Office.

Moreover, Javier said the Antique Development Foundation where the lady governor sat as honorary chairman during the transaction when the foundation no longer exists. (PNA) /MP
